Wisconsin Allows Internet-Based Foreclosure Auctions

Wisconsin passed a bill allowing internet-based foreclosure auctions. Under the bill, a county may enact an ordinance requiring mortgage foreclosure sales to be conducted online using an Internet-based auction. If such an ordinance is enacted, all mortgage foreclosure sales in the county must be performed online. The bill also mandates additional content for the notice of sale provided in connection with an internet-based foreclosure auction. The bill went into effect April 5, 2018.
