Washington Amends Amount of Homestead Exemption

Washington passed a bill amending the amount of the state’s homestead exemption. Under the bill, the homestead exemption is now the greater of $125,000 or the county median sale price for a single-family home in the preceding calendar year. Previously the homestead exemption was the lesser of $125,000 or the total net value of the lands, manufactured homes, mobile home, improvements, and other personal property. The bill went into effect May 12, 2021.
