Vermont Permanently Authorizes Remote Notarizations

Vermont passed a bill permanently authorizing remote notarizations and establishing requirements for the performance of remote notarizations. A remote notarization is defined as a notarial act performed for an individual who is not in the physical presence of the notary public who performs the notarial act. Currently, remote notarizations are temporarily authorized pursuant to an emergency rule adoption set to expire on September 10, 2022. The bill becomes effective July 1, 2022.
