VA Updates COVID-Related Forbearance Time Periods

VA issued Circular 26-21-20, updating the period during which a COVID-related forbearance may be approved and the completion date for all COVID-related forbearances. Per the Circular, for borrowers that have not received a COVID-related forbearance as of September 29, 2021, servicers should approve a COVID-related forbearance requested during the COVID-19 national emergency. In addition, the Circular states that VA expects all COVID-related forbearances to end no later than September 30, 2022. The Circular went into effect September 29, 2021.
