RHS revised chapters 8, 12, and 15 of the Single Family Housing Guaranteed Loan Program Technical Handbook (HB-1-3555). The updates to chapter 8 removed all references to the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) program and clarified that lenders are required to obtain and review a non-U.S. Citizen’s identification number and documentation to determine the applicant’s eligibility for the Single Family Housing Guaranteed Loan Program. The updates to chapter 12 updated property and appraisal requirements to align with recent procedural, environmental, and appraisal related updates from industry stakeholders (including updates for appraisals, environmental considerations, and site requirements, and updates to reflect a more comprehensive overview of the Single Close Construction Project Review resource). The updates to chapter 15 updated the name of the FEMA Standard Flood Hazard Determination Form and removed the “evidence of qualified alien” submission requirement from the Loan Origination Checklist located in Attachment 15-A (Loan Origination Checklist). The updates went into effect April 1, 2024.
