Ohio Authorizes Online Notarizations

Ohio passed a bill authorizing the online notarization of documents. Under the bill, an online notarization is defined as a notarial act performed by means of live two-way video and audio conference technology. The bill also established procedures for the performance of online notarizations. In addition, the bill amended notary public requirements with respect to notarial certificates and the notarization of electronic documents. The bill becomes effective September 20, 2019.
