New Mexico Amends Revised Uniform Law on Notarial Acts

New Mexico passed a bill amending the Revised Uniform Law on Notarial Acts. Under the bill, a notarial act performed under the authority of a federally recognized pueblo is valid in New Mexico if performed by a notarial officer or other individual authorized by the pueblo. The bill also amended the information that must be included on a notarial certificate if the notarial act is performed by a notarial officer other than a notary public. In addition, the bill clarified who may perform a notarial act in New Mexico, amended requirements with respect to a notarial officer’s official stamp, and updated and added definitions. The bill becomes effective June 16, 2023.
