Maryland Amends Foreclosure Notice of Sale Requirements

Maryland passed a bill amending “notice of sale” requirements under the nonjudicial foreclosure process. Under the bill, a “notice of sale” provided in connection with a nonjudicial foreclosure must now be provided to condominium or homeowners associations that have recorded a statement of lien against the property pursuant to the Maryland Contract Lien Act. In addition, the bill requires the trustee holding a nonjudicial foreclosure sale to provide notice of any postponement or cancellation of the foreclosure sale within 14 days of the postponement or cancellation. The bill went into effect October 1, 2017.
