Maine passed a bill amending “notice of right to cure” (Notice) delivery requirements. Under the bill, a Notice must now be sent to the borrower in default and any cosigner by both certified mail, return receipt requested and ordinary first-class mail, postage prepaid. Previously, the lender or servicer could elect whether to send the Notice by either certified mail, return receipt requested, or by ordinary first-class mail, postage prepaid. The bill becomes effective September 19, 2019.
