Illinois Extends Sunset Date of Additional Foreclosure Prevention ProgramFund and Abandoned Residential Property Municipality Relief Fund Fee

Illinois passed a bill extending the sunset date of the additional Foreclosure Prevention Program Fund and Abandoned Residential Property Municipality Relief Fund fee. Currently, a lender or servicer that files a foreclosure complaint that involves residential real estate must pay an additional fee (in addition to the flat $50 fee) for deposit into the Foreclosure Prevention Program Fund and the Abandoned Residential Property Municipality Relief Fund. The additional fee is based on the amount of foreclosure complaints filed by the lender or servicer during the preceding calendar year. Under the bill, the sunset date of the additional fee is now January 1, 2020 (rather than January 1, 2018).
