FHA Updates Maximum Allowable Property Inspection Fees

FHA issued Mortgagee Letter 2023-20 updating the maximum allowable property inspection fees for mortgage servicers. Per the Mortgagee Letter, the new maximum allowable property inspection fee for an initial occupancy inspection, and any occupancy follow-up inspection, is $30 plus $20 for each additional unit. The new maximum allowable property inspection fee for ongoing vacant inspections that are first-time vacant property inspections (one time), and any follow-up vacant property inspections, is $45 plus $30 for each additional unit. The Mortgagee Letter is effective November 14, 2023.
