FHA Revises Property Disposition Regulations

FHA adopted regulations revising FHA’s property disposition provisions. The adopted regulations consolidate and reorganize FHA’s property disposition provisions to better reflect industry standards. Specifically, the adopted regulations made revisions with respect to: FHA’s ownership and disposition authority; the appraisal of REO properties; the escrow amount required for properties needing repairs; FHA’s listing options; the settlement cost assistance available to owner-occupant purchasers; the bidding process for competitive sales; and the Good Neighbor Next Door program. Policy revisions and future effective dates will be incorporated into a future update of FHA’s Single Family Housing Policy Handbook 4000.1. The regulations become effective September 12, 2016.
