FHA Permits Electronic and Other Remote Methods of Communication with Borrowers in Default

FHA adopted a rule permitting electronic and other remote methods of communication with borrowers in default. FHA’s regulations require mortgage lenders and servicers to meet in person with borrowers who are in default on the borrower’s mortgage payments. Under the adopted rules, mortgage lenders and servicers may use electronic and other remote methods of communication to satisfy the requirement to meet with the borrower. The adopted rule becomes effective January 1, 2025.
