FHA Indefinitely Suspends Effective Date of Mortgagee Letter 2019-06: Downpayment Assistance and Operating in a Government Capacity Guidance

FHA indefinitely suspended the effective date of Mortgagee Letter 2019-06: Downpayment Assistance and Operating in a Government Capacity Guidance. In Mortgagee Letter 2019-06, FHA clarified documentation requirements for governmental entities providing downpayment assistance to FHA borrowers. The Mortgagee Letter went into effect April 18, 2019. Mortgagees are advised to continue following the guidance published in Single Family Housing Policy Handbook 4000.1 Section II.A.4.d.ii. (regarding source requirements for a borrower’s minimum required investment).
