Delaware Requires Mortgagees and Assignees to File Statement of Mortgagee Address Change within 60 days of Change

Delaware passed a bill requiring mortgagees and assignees to file a Statement of Mortgagee Address Change (Statement) within 60 days of a change in address. The bill also repeals the mandated form of the Statement and allows each recorder of deeds to establish its own sample form. In addition, the bill clarifies that a mortgagee or assignee is not required to file a separate Statement for each mortgage recorded in the county, nor is a mortgagee or assignee required to include each mortgage recorded in the county on a Statement. The bill went into effect September 7, 2018.
