Maine Authorizes Remote Notarizations

Maine passed a bill authorizing remote notarizations and establishing requirements for the performance of remote notarizations. A remote notarization is a notarial act performed using 2-way audio-visual communication technology for a remotely located individual. The bill went into effect June 17, 2021 and is effective until January 1, 2023.
