FHA Expands Claim Submission Capabilities in FHA Catalyst

FHA issued Mortgagee Letter 2020-38 (Letter), announcing expanded claim submission capabilities in FHA Catalyst. Per the Letter, mortgagees may now utilize the FHA Catalyst: Claims Module to submit all claim types via FHA Catalyst. Previously, the FHA Catalyst platform was only available for case binder electronic endorsement submission, supplemental claims, loss mitigation home retention claims, post-endorsement loan reviews, the Electronic Appraisal Delivery Module, Reacquisition Claims, and Automated Underwriting System. In addition, the Letter announced the phased removal of the requirement to submit a borrower’s social security number during the claim filing process (as this information is already collected during the origination, endorsement, and conveyance processes). The expanded claim submission capabilities are effective November 19, 2020 and December 15, 2020. The removal of the requirement to submit a borrower’s social security number during the claim process is effective November 19, 2020 (for claims submitted via FHA Catalyst) and June 30, 2021 (for all claims, regardless of submission method).
