Maryland Amends Mortgage Originator Law Rules

Maryland amended rules under the Mortgage Originator Law. The amended rules: establish advertising requirements and restrictions; prohibit mortgage loan originators from conducting mortgage lending business at a location different from the address that appears on the license of the mortgage loan originator’s employer (unless specific circumstances are met); require the Department of Financial Regulation to approve or deny a completed license application within 60 days of receipt of the application; and provide that an incomplete license application will be deemed withdrawn if the mortgage loan originator does not correct the incompleteness within 15 days of notification. The amended rules went into effect July 31, 2017.
