Michigan Repeals Requirement that Mortgage State Marital Status of Male Mortgagors

Michigan passed a bill repealing the requirement that a mortgage state the marital status of any male mortgagors. Currently, a written instrument mortgaging real estate must state the marital status of all male mortgagors executing the instrument. Under the bill, this requirement does not apply to written instruments mortgaging real estate that are recorded on or after April 6, 2017.
