FHA adopted rules amending the Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) program. The adopted rules: implement statutory changes; codify policies previously implemented by Mortgagee Letters under various statutory authorities; issue new origination and servicing policies; and clarify existing regulatory language. All policies previously implemented by Mortgagee Letters will remain in effect until the effective date of the adopted rules. The adopted rules become effective September 19, 2017.
