Colorado passed a bill increasing the amount of the state’s homestead exemption. Under the bill, the homestead exemption is increased to $250,000 (rather than $75,000) if the homestead is occupied as a home by an owner or an owner’s family. In addition, the homestead exemption is increased to $350,000 (rather than $105,000) if the homestead is occupied as a home by an owner who is elderly or disabled, an owner’s spouse who is elderly or disabled, or an owner’s dependent who is elderly or disabled. The bill went into effect April 7, 2022.
